The practices of unhealthy behaviors are resulting in chronic diseases and their complications that are threatening to bankrupt the health care delivery system in the United States. The costs of health care have surpassed two trillion dollars, representing 16 percent of Gross Domestic Product and health economists are predicting that by 2030, health care costs will represent 25 percent of everything that we produce in this country on an annual basis. It is very clear that something has to be done to solve this crisis in health care delivery.
